Work starts on multimillion pound warehouse build

Groundwork has started on a £3.4m development of a new warehouse in Greater Manchester.

The new build will see 70,000 sq ft of new  warehouse flooring  warehouse flooring created at the Crown Business Park in Rochdale.

At the time of writing, the buyer of the site had not been named. However, details were confirmed that the acquisition of the land was made for a total purchase price of £1.5m.

As well as the initial facility that will be created, a further plot of land, taking up another 30,000 sq ft, is understood to have been acquired for possible future expansion of the site.

Spread across a total area of 18 acres, the Crown Business Park has been a notable success since beginning operations four years ago. Since 2010, developers have seen a brisk trade as more businesses move into the area, with the start of the park boosted by a £3.2m injection of cash from the European Regional Development Funding scheme. This money made up nearly a third of the initial construction costs of £9.4m for the site.

As well as warehouse and logistics developments,  office flooring  office flooring has also been constructed at the park, with firms taking a modern approach to office location, furnishing and design. Overall, the park is expected to bring in 500 new jobs to the region, once it is fully occupied.

The sales and lettings manager for the site, Tracy Clavell-Bate, said:

“We’re delighted to welcome our new occupiers to Crown Business Park.”

Completion of the new warehouse facility is expected within 20 weeks.
