Construction starts on speculative Tamworth unit

Building work has commenced on a 150,000 square foot industrial development at the Birch Coppice Business Park in Staffordshire.
The speculative project, which the firm in charge of the scheme, IM Properties, states is a reaction to the strong demand in the face of limited adequate stock, will offer industry a yard with 16 loading bays and a capacity of 30 HGVs.
A car park for 165 vehicles will also be created.
The site, which extends over a full area of 152,000sqft, will also see the creation of a well-appointed office space.
In total, the developers hope to deliver 7,500sqft of Grade A office flooring. The commercial space, which will be designed in keeping with modern best practices in office layout, will also have the highest energy rating of EPC level ‘A’.
IM Properties expect to sign off on the project by March of next year, while being confident that the level of demand for the space will still be high.
Located just off of Junction 10 on the M6, the Birch Coppice commercial park is located near Tamworth. With it also being home to the Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal facility, it is an essential centre for goods coming into Britain.
Current interest in the business location has been reported as strong, with the developers having only recently leased another 168,900sqft unit at the site.
The Midlands region is also hot in general, with IM Properties having agreed a lease of 25 years on a property in Solihull with retailer John Lewis.
