Derbyshire animal organisation marks anniversary

This year sees the Ashbourne Animal Welfare group mark its first quarter of a century. Created in 1988 following a typically British pub meeting, it has gone from strength to strength,

The intervening 25 years have also seen some notable developments for the Derbyshire charity. Perhaps the most notable development though has been the creation of The Ark Rescue Centre for Cats and Dogs

That did not come along for another 13 years after the creation of the group, and nearly a decade after charity status was achieved.

Today though, it has become one of the most reputable facilities of its kind in the country.

From what was a basic shell of a building, today the charity’s grounds boast such areas as cat cuddling rooms and a chalet entirely given over to the dogs. There are also well-maintained pathways for the dog walkers and all of the kennels are heated.

However, one of the most important recent upgrades has been the installation of safety flooring safety flooring. A specialist resin floor that offers great hygiene and odour reduction properties, it is also built to last and reduce accidents.

It just makes the environment of the centre a better place to be for everyone too – whether on two or four legs.

The development of the centre continues though, with new innovations and new approaches being introduced.

Next on the list is a complete refurbishment of the old dog pens. Here too, new safety flooring will be required and will help the dogs feel a good deal more comfortable.
