Developers present Maidstone plans to the public

Just under 100 people have attended an exhibition held by developers in Kent, as they publically presented their initial plans for a new business park in Maidstone.

Roxhill’s plans would see the creation of warehouses and offices close to a site between the A20 and Junction 8 on the M20. The site is land that was formerly included in proposals for the Kent International Gateway.

In the initial plans from the developers, 14 new buildings would be created in a landscaped area. To include parking, the plans indicate the installation of a number of ponds.

The developers apologised for the timing of the public exhibition, as families plan for the festive celebrations. However, the firm was eager to point out that more detailed plans would be presented ahead of the local authority being approached.

The company released a statement, saying:

“We appreciate that the exhibition was held at short notice and in the run-up to Christmas when many people are busy.

“There will be another exhibition in the New Year before we submit a planning application.”

The statement went on to describe why the location had been picked, with the company citing the easy access available. It went on to say the facility could also play a key role in developing the economy of Maidstone and the local area.

If approved, the warehouse and office fit out office fit out development will be the second such Roxhill scheme recently permitted in Kent.

Earlier this year, a 10.5 acre site close to the River Medway in Larkfield was approved for a new 190,000 square foot commercial park.
