A stunning property set in nine acres of land near Haslemere in Surrey has just gone on the market for almost £1.5m. Included in the price is a detached barn conversion, set behind the main dwelling, which has been transformed into a multi-use space with the installation of a mezzanine flooring mezzanine flooring level.

The original house was built as a farmworker’s cottage in the 18th century and has been extended and renovated by a succession of owners to become a unique country home, full of character and charm. A large extension comprising a drawing room overlooking the garden, a modern kitchen/breakfast room, four bedrooms and two bathrooms has been carefully blended with period features, including the original stone floors and vaulted ceilings. The oak timbers have been exposed and the large open fireplaces have been retained, resulting in a comfortable family home offering old-world charm with modern convenience.

The barn has been thoughtfully converted to offer the maximum flexibility with a bedroom and en suite bathroom being fitted into the newly constructed mezzanine flooring level, which has been installed using the height of the building to increase useable space without altering the external appearance. The light and airy space is easily adaptable to use as either extra living space or for use as a studio, office or annexe.

The extensive grounds boast an impressive driveway, manicured lawns, a well-stocked orchard and paddocks. Planning permission has been granted for more outbuildings, including stables and another barn.
