Amber Taverns, which recently purchased the building from the previous owners who went into receivership, has received confirmation from the Bradford Council Planning Department that the work can go ahead.

The plans include merging the Old Library pub and the adjoining property which is presently operating as Berlin’s nightclub in a complete overhaul costing £450,000. The exterior of the listed building on Main Street in the West Yorkshire market town will be cleaned and decorated, although no structural changes will be made.

The Chairman of Bingley Chamber of Trade, Howard Martin, said that some concern had been expressed recently over the state of the building, which stands within the Bingley Conservation Area, as it was falling into some disrepair. He added that the recent purchase and planned renovation would be a boost for the whole town and welcomed the new jobs which will be created.

Operations Director of Amber Taverns, Gary Roberts, said that the company’s vision is to turn the newly refurbished pub, with its greater range of facilities available as a result the expansion of the interior, into a viable and profitable business with a long term future.
