Vacant warehouse set to be enlarged for new tenant

A storage facility in Corby is to be extended by its new tenant, should the planning permission application be approved by the local council.

A request has been presented to Corby Council that will see the Mitchell Road site have a number of modifications made, as well as additional space created.

The plan, submitted by UKLF GP in Slough, will see two interior office floors created, along with a dedicated security zone, within the parameters of the existing building. The firm also intends to create a number of mezzanine floors on different levels.

The prioritisation of local roads will also be changed.

In support of the bid, the application submitted to extend the building, which has never had a tenant since its construction six years ago, reads:

“The warehouse has laid empty since completion in 2008 but now a new tenant has been found they wish to urgently move into the premises which need to be tailored to their exacting requirements.”

If the plans are approved, which have been submitted by UKLF GP on behalf of an as of yet undisclosed client, it would see the creation of nearly 250 positions at the warehouse within three years.

The supporting statement goes on to state:

“Jobs will be provided for up to 245 staff in 2017, including approximately 170 new appointments.”

Other clients of UKLF GP include the Sainsbury’s and Tesco supermarket chains. With a total of 14 logistic warehouses within its portfolio, both of the retail giants are known to occupy sites within the firm’s remit.
