What makes suspended ceilings desirable?

When it comes to the modern office, it’s fair to say it has come a long way from where it was a few years ago. There are many reasons for this, from a new way of thinking regarding how we approach work to a new emphasis on making the space in an office more productive. However, perhaps the most noticeable difference is in the use of technology.

While essential, embracing that technology does create its own issues in many ways. One area where a problem is created is in how to handle all of those cables carrying data and electricity around an office. A great way to do that is through the use of a suspended ceiling.

Why use suspended ceilings suspended ceilings?

They are also great for hiding pipework and all those necessary bits and pieces that go into modern office building construction. However, it is not only for their ability to hide unattractive building features that suspended ceilings are proving so desirable in the modern workplace.

Suspended ceilings today provide a wealth of design choices for offices, allowing just the right tailored result to be delivered. With a number of textures, styles and colours available, it is easy to install a seamless construction into any office.

There is also a lot to be said for hiding those cables, ducts and pipes. By having a common area where they are all housed together, maintenance and repair work is a good deal easier than it ever has been. It also provides ease of access when modifications are necessary, further keeping bills and wasted time to a minimum.

Another great plus point to suspended ceilings in the office is the sound proofing they provide. By creating a cavity between the floor of one office and the ceiling of another, noise in otherwise audibly cluttered spaces can be significantly reduced.

For surrounding spaces too, if the work in an office is disruptive, the sound proofing element can be particularly desirable.

Health and safety

Perhaps one of the most attractive advantages of suspended ceilings lies in the boost to health and safety they bring. Extremely resistant to moisture and sagging, problems with bacteria, mould and mildew are minimal. This is true even in areas of high humidity.

For staff with breathing issues such as bronchitis and asthma, this is a huge plus. For everyone in the office too though, it is a great benefit and can help boost productivity.

The desirability of a suspended ceiling is further boosted by its energy efficiency and green credentials.

Offering insulation, lower heating and cooling costs are usually seen. With the right materials chosen too, light reflection can be increased, reducing the need for supplementary lighting.

Many ceilings are also made from recycled and recyclable materials, making them environmentally friendly.

Constructed to the highest of safety standards too, the fire resistance offered by suspended ceiling systems suspended ceiling systems is usually a class A rating.

Offering benefits for aesthetics, maintenance and safety, a suspended ceiling could be just the thing your office needs.
