This was a complex project due to several key constraints:

• The client requested that the cinema seating remain in place, limiting direct access to the ceiling.
  
  
• The site had minimal external space, making traditional waste disposal methods unfeasible.
  
  
• The works needed to be carefully phased across three separate cinema rooms to allow the venue to stay open and minimise revenue loss.

Our Solution
‍

After our initial inspection, we recommended a complete ceiling refit with essential repairs. To address the access issue, we sourced a specialist tower system designed to fit over the existing seating, allowing our team to safely reach the ceiling without disturbing the cinema chairs. This approach saved the client time and money, as it eliminated the need to remove and reinstall seating.

We also removed approximately 60 ceiling lights with care and then reinstated them into the new ceiling once the installation was complete. To support the weight of the light fittings and ensure long-term safety, we installed custom-cut plywood platforms above the tiles.

To work around the lack of space for skips, we arranged weekly waste collections. This kept the site clean, safe, and free from unnecessary clutter.

For the new ceiling, we installed matte black Ecophon tiles. These were chosen to reduce glare and enhance the overall cinema experience for customers.

Phased Delivery & Project Management

We delivered the works in phases, completing one cinema room at a time. This ensured that Lewes Depot could continue operating during the project, preventing full closure and minimising any loss of income. The work was completed ahead of schedule, meaning rooms reopened sooner than expected.

Weekly site visits were conducted by our Project Manager and Estimator, Abz Parvaneh, who ensured smooth progress and a quick resolution of any issues. Abz’s proactive approach meant the client didn’t have to worry about delays or complications.
